Woodland Management Plan
South Lanarkshire Council is proud to launch our new Woodland Management Plan for Calderglen Country Park, setting out how we will protect and enhance biodiversity, restore woodland health, and ensure our forests remain vibrant, resilient places.
By improving woodland paths, opening up brighter, safer spaces, and nurturing more diverse habitats, these plans place health and wellbeing at the heart of our approach.
This plan has been developed to provide a full description of the woodland at the current time and to give management proposals for the next 10 years, ensuring the woodlands continue to be both robust and welcoming for residents, visitors and future generations.
The plan may identify future tree works, such as thinning or selective felling, where these would support healthier, more varied woodland. Any works would be carefully planned, phased and subject to the necessary approvals, resources and funding being available.
The Country Parks Woodland Management Plan online consultation will be open from the 24th of August until the 21st of September 2026 and our questionnaire can be accessed using the take the survey button at the top of the page. Your feedback will help shape the plans and ensure local views are considered as future priorities are developed.
